DTown Spits A Conscious Freestyle Over Monica’s “So Gone” for the #SoGoneChallenge #DopeSixteens
In March, DTown (@ExecutiveDTown) launched his monthly freestyle series and has consistently delivered on his promise to drop hot bars. Titled #DopeSixteens, the Youngstown MC has dedicated himself to preserving hip hop culture and shifting the mainstreams the focus back to lyricism.
This month, DTown revisits Monica’s “So Gone” and drops a conscious freestyle. Inspired by conversations he has had with a few of his friends, DTown drops bars and tackles some of the tough issues that single mothers face on a daily basis. From working two jobs to overwhelming feelings of love to fleeting moments of loneliness, the Youngstown Native paints the picture of a woman who is slightly flawed but gains strength through the love of her child which makes her unstoppable.
What was your favorite line in this installment of #DopeSixteens? What beat would you like to hear DTown rap on next?
